My essay

Opposite Lives
Everyone has his or her own interests, attitudes and life experiences. Living in the same house doesn’t mean people have the same interests. Despite the fact that Pech and I live in the same house, her life experiences differ from mine in terms of our, marital status, educational backgrounds and favorite activities.
The first difference between Pech and I is our marital status .I believe, marriage is very important for everyone. Some people pick their partner by themselves, and others are arranged for them by their parents. In Pech’s case, her mother Soy arranged her marriage when she was 16 years old. Pech married her husband, Pears Prom, in 1970 in Battambang, Cambodia. They have 5 children together. Even though her marriage was arranged by her mother, they still love each other very much. However, when she married in 1970, I wasn’t even born yet. During her era, it was very common for parents to make marriage arrangements for their children. However, there are no longer arranged marriages anymore. I’m still single a total different. I haven’t met the right person yet. I believe in starting slow by getting to know someone as my girlfriend; then we can think about marriage.
Secondly, our educational backgrounds are another huge difference. Pech went to school up to grade seventh in the small city of Thmol Koal, therefore she doesn’t have a high school diploma. Her teacher was very strict when she was in elementary school. She used to dream of getting a four-year degree, but she had to drop out of school because she had a family business that she needed to help support. In contrast, I went to an elementary and a high school in Battambang city, which is a big city. Also I changed from a public to a private school while I was in an eighth grade of high school. Then I went straight to university in the capital city of Phnom Penh after I graduated from Preas Monivong High School in 2006.During my adolescence, I didn’t have to any other responsibilities, except for school.
Not only are our marital status and educational backgrounds opposite, but her favorite activities are dissimilar from mine too. Pech likes to cook and to maintain her household. She doesn’t like outdoor activities such as going to the beach, going fishing or even watching movies. For example, she says “watching a movie is a waste of time.” However, I love going fishing, going to the beach, and watching movies. I usually spend my leisure time doing those activities.
